USJDP Junior Prep Residential Hockey Camp

2008 USJDP Junior Prep Camp

June 29 - July 5, 2008
July 6 - 12, 2008
July 13 - 19, 2008

University of Colorado, Boulder

The USJDP Junior Prep Camp provides elite North American Junior, Midget and Bantam players (birth years 1986-93) the professional skill development and exposure necessary to better prepare for junior and college hockey. This camp is directed by NHL, college and Junior coaches/scouts and is intended for current year Junior, AAA, or AA players only.

Featuring players from the US, Canada, Switzerland, France, Slovakia, England, and the Czech Republic, this 3-week development camp includes both on- and off-ice development, strength training, off-ice conditioning, daily seminars, and a multitude of networking & recruiting opportunities.

The camp includes 4 hours on-ice instruction, 3 hours off-ice strength training, and an 1-hour Junior Hockey seminar each day. Each player will have multiple opportunities throughout each week to network with, and showcase their skills to, the top professional coaches in North America.

NHL, COLLEGIATE & JUNIOR COACHING STAFF
All Prep Camp activities are coached and directed by NHL, collegiate and Junior A coaches and scouts. These coaches are responsible for all aspects of player development as they are with the players all day long directing and managing all aspects of the development process.

As these coaches work with the athletes both on- and off-ice for the duration of the camp, they have an excellent opportunity to get to know each player personally and are in a position to better direct and guide that players development and training. Additionally, due to the extensive one-on-one time each coach spends with the players, these camps have become fertile recruiting grounds as they allow each coach to get to know each player personally: their strengths, their weaknesses, the way they compete, their coachability, their focus and their preparation.

For a complete list of the scheduled camp staff, please visit our Camp Staff page.

In addition to the professional staff outlined above, the USJDP Junior Prep Camp has also been scouted each year by U.S. Collegiate, Major Junior, Junior A, and AAA teams. For a complete list of teams that have scouted the Junior Prep Camp in the past, please visit the Prep Camp Information page.

USJDP TOP PROSPECTS
Each week, the coaches will select the USJDP Top Prospects within each age group. The USJDP Top Prospects list is a selection and posting of the 3 Top Prospects within each age group from each week of the Prep Camp. In addition, all Top Prospects will be evaluated at the end of the three-week camp and the top overall prospect in each age group will be voted on by the coaches and will be named the USJDP Super Prospect of 2007. Super Prospects will be posted online and featured as a part of the complete USJDP Top Prospects list. Also, both Super and Top prospects will have their player profiles sent to all affiliated Junior and College teams and identified as the Top Prospect from the USJDP Prep Camp.

PLAYER EVALUATIONS
Each player will be scheduled for a 1-on-1 meeting with one of the Prep Camp staff during the week they are in camp. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss, in person, their performance during the week, their strength’s and weaknesses as a player, their mental understanding of the game, what the coaches saw during the week, what they need to work on, and how to best make these improvements. All Prep Camp Staff are current NHL, collegiate and/or Jr. A coaches and scouts. If a player is looking to make an impression on these coaches, maybe get on one of their watch lists, or even learn as much as possible from them, this is the time to do it. Players are encouraged to take full advantage of our Staff’s knowledge, connections, experience and guidance to help them continue their development and move on to the next level.

STRENGTH & FITNESS TESTS
Each player will be tested on the standard NHL Strength & Fitness Test performed by the staff at Impact Sports Performance. At the conclusion of camp, each player will receive an individual Strength & Fitness Report outlining their fitness and strength levels, what areas they need to improve upon, how to correct mistakes, and suggestions and exercises for this improvement.

PLAYER PROFILES
Each camper will complete a comprehensive USJDP Player Profile while they are at camp. This profile will be utilized by USJDP Staff to help promote the player, place the player, and answer any questions a potential coach may have about a player. Additionally, pertinent player contact info, player stats, an abbreviated player bio, and a synopsis of that players’ evaluation will be compiled into a spreadsheet and distributed to all coaches and scouts in attendance, as well as other affiliated Junior Leagues and coaches throughout North America.
