European Hockey Tour
 

2008 Swiss International Hockey Tour

Visp, Switzerland
August 9 - 18, 2008

The 2008 Selects will be traveling to Visp, Switzerland to participate in the 2008 BBT International Software Cup. The tour will provide players the opportunity to compete against, and train with, the top Junior and Novizen teams from across Switzerland, Europe and Scandinavia. Each team will participate in 3+ days of training and an international tournament at the Visp Litternahalle and friendly games in other venues around Switzerland. Teams we will be competing against will be from EV Zug, HC Thurgau, ZSC Lions, EHC Kuessnacht, Lausanne HC, SC Bern, HC Sierre, HC Davos, the Czech Republic and Scandinavia.

The USJDP European Selects Tour is run in conjunction with the USJDP Junior Prep Camp, a 3-week, high intensity development and exposure showcase camp at the University of Colorado, Boulder, June 29 - July 19, 2008. While not mandatory, the scheduling allows many players to participate in both programs in order to create the most powerful summer skill development and player exposure schedule possible.

COACHING STAFF:
Our professional coaching staff draws the best players resulting in the best teams. The 2008 USJDP Selects Tour coaching staff will include:

Fairbanks Icedogs, NAHL, Head Coach Josh Hauge
Fargo-Morehead Jets, NAHL, Assistant Coach Aaron Kinslow

GAME FORMATS:
The team will participate in BBT International Software Cup as outlined above. The tournament will provide a minimum of 4 games, and possibly two more depending on how the team does. These games will consist of 2, 20-minute stop time periods, a 15-minute warm-up and a zamboni break between periods.

Additionally, friendly games with 3, 20-minute stop time period games, with 15-minute warm-up and full zamboni breaks, will be scheduled the week before the tournament. These games will be announced closer to the tour.


ACCOMMODATIONS:
In Zug, the players will be staying in the Zug International Youth Hostel and the parents will be staying in the Hotel Loewen. In Visp, the players will be staying at the Sport Hotel Olympica. The parents accommodations will be announced soon.

SIGHTSEEING:
On Thursday, August 14, the group will visit the village of Zermatt home of the world-famous Matterhorn. This pedestrian-only village sits high up in the Swiss Alps and is home to one of the world's most distinctive mountains and premiere ski resorts.


SELECTION PROCESS:
Each interested player must email a complete player report to Admin@USJDP.com. Included in this email must be current year player team and stats, player size, position, shot direction, family contact info, coach name & contact number. Upon receipt of completed player report, the USJDP will contact each coach for an in-depth player recommendation and evaluation. After speaking with each coach, USJDP staff will make a determination about each player and notify you about our decision. Please allow 2-3 weeks for an answer.

* PLAYERS: This ALL-INCLUSIVE package includes transportation to and from airport, all pre-tournament practices and tournament games, all in-country transportation, accommodations, breakfast and 3-course dinner daily, tournament entry, stated off day tours, transfer fees, and USJDP Selects custom team jersey, socks, bag, hat and hoodie. Players and parents traveling with the team are responsible for their own flights and must meet the Team Bus at the Zurich International Airport by 10:00 am on Sunday, August 10, 2008. Please schedule a return flight anytime after 12 noon on Monday, August 18, 2008.
