Andrea
Peterson joins the Gustavus women's hockey team as an assistant
coach for the 2007-08 season. Peterson remains at
Gustavus after
finishing her playing career in 2007 as the most decorated women's
hockey player in MIAC history. As a member of the Gustavus women's
hockey team from 2003-07, the White Bear Lake native was a four-time
MIAC Player of the Year, four-time All- America selection, and was
named the 2007 ACHA College Division Women's Hockey Player of the
Year. Peterson is the only women's hockey player in the conference
to
have been named the MIAC Player of the Year more than twice.
As
a two-year captain, Peterson finished her career with 185
points, breaking school and league records in that same
category.
The total is also a Division III record for defensemen and also ranks
third all-time among all players behind Laura Hurd (237) of
Elmira College and Elizabeth Gibson of Plattsburgh State (226).
Peterson also holds Gustavus' single-season record for goals with
32 (2004-05) while tying NCAA Division III single-game records for
points (8) and assists (6) in a game at St. Kate's on Feb. 11, 2005.
A 2007 Gustavus graduate, Peterson earned a bachelor's degree in heath
and physical education.
