This year RMHS will host the 2nd annual All-Girls camp in Aspen,
Colorado. Due to the growth of girls
hockey in the Rocky Mountain Region, and Colorado in particular,
we have decided bring in some of the best young girls coaches from
across the country and run this girls-only camp in 2008. This camp
will offer all the features you come to expect from an RMHS Skill
Development Camp.

Daily 30-minute

& conditioning sessions
RMHS has spent 15 years developing the perfect summer camp
training schedule and curricula possible. It is our belief the
combination of on-ice instruction and off-ice dryland training included
in an RMHS Summer Skill Development Camp provides a well-balanced
and effective skill development training program enabling all our
campers to achieve their optimal amount of development over the
course of a week. To do this, we believe it is equally important
to not only maximize the amount of time spent on-ice each day, in
two separate sessions, but to continue conditioning the
body off-ice at pre-determined intervals as well.
Reading & Reacting Camp
Reading and reacting is one of the most important aspects of the game of hockey. Each player must be able to read what is happening, anticipate correctly, and react properly by moving to the appropriate space to make the play or support their teammates in advance of the puck. As we sat, it is much easier to anticipate where the puck will be, and go to a particular point in the rink ahead of it, than it is to chase it around.
Camp Format
The girls will be divided by age into one
of two groups: U12 & U19. With the RMHS developmental
model firmly in mind, we have created a proficient daily schedule
providing optimal performance
& development in each of our students. We understand that without
proper rest, hydration, and stretching, even the most detailed and
well-executed practice plans will not be effective. To achieve the
stated developmental results, our daily schedule incorporates the
necessary ice time, proper rest periods between sessions, nutrition
and hydration breaks, and stretching sessions.
Camp Staff
RMHS will have some of the top women's
hockey coaches in the nation staff this camp. The camp will be staffed
and directed by current women's college coaches, players, girls
youth hockey directors, or girls high school coaches. Please watch website for all 2009 staff updates! CLICK HERE for updates!
"Our daughter, Ryanne Dehart, attended the elite program for RMHS in Missoula last summer. We were very pleased with the instruction and coaching at the camp - it is the first camp she has attended that her gender did not influence the way she was treated on the ice. At other camps, the coaching staff either ignored her completely (seemingly not sure how to instruct a girl) or treated her as if she didn't know a thing about hockey. (For the past 8 years she has played on the boys' team and has been on the Montana Girls Select team for the past 3 years so her skills are quite good.)
Anyway, we were so impressed with the camp that we made the decision right away to enroll her again. So when a week of camp was one of the items donated to the local area fund raising event last fall, we were very excited to have made the winning bid. We look forward to another fantastic camp this summer and will recommend it to everybody we can."
